In the world of cricket, a player’s performance can often leave a lasting impression, and this was certainly the case when MS Dhoni, the former captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), delivered a blitz knock of 28 runs off just nine balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

MS Dhoni’s rage continues in IPL 2024

The match took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.MS Dhoni’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. Despite his age, Dhoni demonstrated his power-hitting ability and agility, surprising many, including Tom Moody and Wasim Jaffer.

Tom Moody, the former Australian cricketer and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach, and Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer, were both impressed by MS Dhoni’s performance. Moody highlighted Dhoni’s fitness, focus, and hunger for runs, despite being 42 years old and not playing any cricket before IPL 2024. He found it almost impossible for a player with very little practice before the tournament to come out all guns blazing.

“42 years old, still very fit, still very focussed, still very hungry, but the puzzle is, he does not play any cricket coming in and playing in the IPL. It is hard to come out of the cold and suddenly have that expectation to be able to perform at an elite level is near impossible,” Moody said.

Wasim Jaffer echoed Moody’s sentiments, stating that hitting in the death overs is very difficult, but MS Dhoni still does it very smoothly. He found it incredible to watch Dhoni deliver without any match practice.

“It’s incredible. Hitting in the death is one of the most difficult things against the bowlers who are on top of their game, playing international cricket, and he does that so easily. It’s incredible to watch him do that without any match practice,” Jaffer said.

The Mahi mania was yet again on display as the fans were in for a treat yet again. The CSK star was on a boundary-hitting spree as he struck at a rate of 311.11 with 3 fours and 2 sixes, including a massive six of 101-metre. He took on the likes of Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur to take CSK’s total to 176 runs. However, the target of 177 runs did not prove to be enough as CSK suffered their 3rd loss of the season.
