The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 has been a thrilling tournament, with teams battling fiercely for a spot in the playoffs. One of the standout performances came from Ellyse Perry, the star all-rounder from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who played a pivotal role in securing their place in the playoffs.

Ellyse Perry stars to see RCB in the Knockouts

In the 19th match of the WPL 2024, RCB faced Mumbai Indians (MI). The match was crucial for RCB as they needed a win to ensure their place in the playoffs. Perry rose to the occasion and delivered a performance that will be remembered for years to come.

Perry bowled the best spell in WPL history, finishing with figures of 6/15. Her stunning bowling performance restricted MI to a below-par total of 113 all out. Perry’s six-wicket haul was historic as she became the first player in WPL history to bag a six-wicket haul.

But Perry’s brilliance was not limited to her bowling. She also played a crucial role with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 40 off 38 balls. Despite losing three early wickets, RCB managed to reach the target in just 15 overs, thanks to a solid partnership between Perry and Richa Ghosh.

Perry’s all-round performance ensured a comfortable seven-wicket win for RCB over MI. This victory not only confirmed RCB’s place in the playoffs but also knocked out UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants from playoff contention.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals (DC) are almost through to the finals. They will be their last group match against Gujarat Giants on Wednesday in what seems to be a dead rubber encounter. Both DC and MI are on 10 points. But with the better run rate, DC is more likely to make it to the finals even if they lose badly at the hands of the Giants.

Hence, the playoff is most likely once again to be played between MI and RCB on Friday at Arun Jaitley Stadium. This will be RCB’s first knockout game in the WPL, while MI defeated UP Warriorz last season in the penultimate clash.
