The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a platform where records are made and broken. However, some records, due to their sheer magnitude, stand tall, reflecting the dominance of one team over another. One such record is the most successive wins against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), held by Mumbai Indians (MI) and now equalled by Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Punjab Kings with a dominant victory over CSK

In a recent match against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, PBKS notched up their fifth straight victory, thereby equaling MI’s record of five consecutive wins against CSK. This winning streak of PBKS started in the 2021 season of the IPL and is still going strong.

The match saw PBKS put up a dominant performance, winning by seven wickets. The PBKS bowlers, led by Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar, restricted CSK to a modest total, giving away just 33 runs in 8 overs. The PBKS batters then chased down the target effortlessly, with Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw forging a 64-run stand to shift the momentum in their favour.

However, it’s worth noting that PBKS is not the only team to have a successful run against CSK. Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) also have four consecutive victories against the Chennai-based franchise in the IPL.

This record is significant for Punjab Kings, especially considering CSK’s dominance in the IPL. CSK, under the legacy of MS Dhoni, is one of the most successful teams in the IPL, having won the title multiple times. Therefore, achieving a record-equalling winning streak against such a formidable opponent is a commendable feat for PBKS.
