Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and a renowned Bollywood actress, recently found herself at the centre of a controversy involving Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team skipper. A series of news articles suggested that Zinta expressed a desire to rope in Sharma as the captain of PBKS. These reports gained traction, especially considering the current PBKS captain, Shikhar Dhawan, is sidelined due to an injury.

Preity Zinta thrashes false claims

However, Zinta vehemently denied these claims, terming them as “completely fake and baseless”. She clarified that she never discussed Sharma in any interview and holds him in high regard. Zinta also expressed her respect for Dhawan and stated that the timing of these false reports, given Dhawan’s current injury, was in poor taste.

Preity Zinta took to social media to express her disappointment and frustration over the circulation of such misinformation. She emphasized that these articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification and circulated online. She requested the media to refrain from circulating such news and embarrassing all concerned parties.

“All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured, makes these articles appear in very poor taste. These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties. All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of IPL 2024,” said Preity Zinta.
