Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah entails in a controversy after allegedly aiding in rape of 14-year-old

Pakistani leg-spinner Yasir Shah who has been an integral part of Pakistan’s Test team has been accused of aiding in rape of 14-year-old as a case was registered at Islamabad’s Shalimar police station for the harassment of a 14-year-old girl according to a report by Geo News. In the FIR, the girl said that Yasir Shah’s friend, Farhan, had allegedly raped her at gunpoint, filmed her ordeal, and harassed her.

The report said that the complainant alleged in the FIR that she had reached out to Yasir Shah on Whatsapp but he ended up making fun of the girl and moreover it was claimed that he had stated he liked underage girls.

“When I approached Yasir Shah on WhatsApp and told him about the incident, he made fun of me and said that he likes underage girls,” the complainant alleged in the FIR.

The girl further alleged that the Test cricketer had warned her of “dire consequences” if she approached the authorities over the incident.

“Yasir Shah said that he was a very influential person and that he knew a high-ranking official. Yasir Shah and Farhan rape underage girls and make videos,” she alleged, as per the report.

The girl also claims that when she went to the police Yasir offered to give her a flat and monthly expenses for 18 years if she remained quiet.

The complainant added that when she approached the police, “the national cricketer proposed to buy me a flat and bear my expenses for the next 18 years”.

PCB issues statement on the controversy

Meanwhile as per a report in ESPNCricinfo, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said: “We have noted that some allegations have been levelled against one of our Centrally Contracted players.”

“The PCB is presently gathering information at its end and will only offer a comment when in possession of complete facts.”

Making his debut in 2014, Yasir Shah has so far taken 235 wickets in 46 Tests at an average of 31.08. He also has a Test century to his name, which came against Australia in December 2019.

Yasir didn’t travel to Bangladesh for the recent Test series as he is recovering from a finger injury.
