MS Dhoni, the legendary cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team, has left an indelible mark on the sport. His leadership skills, strategic acumen, and ability to stay calm under pressure have made him one of the most respected figures in cricket. As the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Dhoni has led the team to multiple victories, further cementing his legacy.

What did MS Dhoni say about his IPL career?

After winning the IPL title last year, Dhoni said that he would come back and play at least one more season of IPL.

“Looking for an answer? This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be working hard for 9 months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, won’t be easy on the body,” said Dhoni.

As we approach IPL 2024, cricket fans across the globe are excited to witness Captain Cool for one last time in the IPL. However, it is unknown whether MS Dhoni will announce his retirement from the cash-rich league at the end of the season. Many ex-cricketers are in awe of Dhoni’s longevity in IPL.

Anil Kumble, another stalwart of Indian cricket, recently expressed his views on this matter. Kumble stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if Dhoni continues to play in IPL 2025. He believes that Dhoni, much like Sachin Tendulkar, is passionate about the sport and wants to remain in the thick of things.

Kumble recalled an incident where MS Dhoni attended an optional practice session in Ranchi, his hometown. When asked why he was there, Dhoni simply stated that he wanted to be around. This incident, according to Kumble, encapsulates Dhoni’s love for the game and his desire to always be involved.

Drawing parallels between Dhoni and Tendulkar, Kumble mentioned that both these players were always eager to participate, even on optional days. He believes that this passion and commitment are what sets them apart and makes them true legends of the sport.
