Indian team gave Virat Kohli a perfect gift on his birthday as they decimated Scotland and registered their second win of the tournament. With this win at the Dubai International Stadium, India’s hopes to make it to the semi-finals are still alive. This victory also massively improved their net run rate. India has now overtaken Afghanistan and New Zealand in terms of net run rate.
After the win, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was asked about his celebration plans. Kohli responded by saying that he is over the celebrating phase now and he is grateful to have his family with him which is enough. Kohli mentions the difficult life in covid. Hence, it’s a blessing to have your family’s company.
“I think I am over that phase now. No, I mean, my family is here. Anushka and Vamika are here. That’s celebration enough for me. Just having families around in these times in bio-bubble life is very difficult. That’s a blessing in itself. The team has been amazing. Everyone wished me,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation.
Virat Kohli didn’t have much to do on his birthday as Indian bowlers dismantled Scotland for mere 85 runs. Then the dynamic duo of Rohit and Rahul took the Scottish bowling apart. Rahul brought up the fastest fifty of the tournament and India chased the target within 7 overs.
Anushka posts a heartfelt message for Virat Kohli
On his hubby’s auspicious day, Anushka took to social media to share a heartfelt message for the Indian skipper.
Anushka wrote, “Your core is made of honesty and guts of steel. The courage that pales doubt into oblivion. I know no one who can pick themselves up from a dark place like you can. You grow better in every way because you hold on to nothing in you as permanent and are fearless. I know we are not ones to talk to each other through social media like this but sometimes I just want to scream and tell the world what an amazing man you are. Thank you for making everything brighter and more beautiful. Oh, and Happy Birthday cuteness!!”
