New Zealand have been in terrific form and they thrashed Sri Lanka in a group-stage encounter of the T20 World Cup 2022 played in Perth on Saturday. Wasim Jaffer has now picked the best bowling pair of the Kiwis. He named Trent Boult and Tim Southee as one of the best pairs the cricketing world has ever seen.

Former Indian cricketer and expert Wasim Jaffer has rated Jaffer emphasized the fact that both Boult and Southee are a terrific pair in the 20-over format, but they have proven their mettle in the other two formats as well.
“Trent Boult and Tim Southee have been a fantastic pair, not only in just T20 but the Test and ODI format as well. We have seen James Anderson and Stuart Broad, but they don’t play in ODIs or T20Is. But, to do in all three formats is outstanding,” said Wasim Jaffer said on BatBricks7 presents ‘Run ki Runneeti’ on CricTracker.
“There have been some great names like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis and Glenn McGrath and Jason Gilespie there are plenty of them, but in recent times in T20 cricket, I would say Tim Southee and Trent Boult are right up there among one of the best,” he added.
In the match against Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup fixture, batter Glenn Phillips was excellent with the bat as he completed a ton . He was also adjudged player of the match for his excellent century. Chasing 168 to win, Sri Lanka were completely bamboozled by the opening spells from senior pacers Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Boult scalped four wickets while Southee took one to completely break the bone of Sri Lanka’s batting order. In the end, the Island nation lost the match by a huge margin of 65 runs.
Meanwhile, the Blackcaps will now take on England in their next T20 World Cup group-stage encounter and continue its unbeaten run in the tournament.
