Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their second consecutive match this season as they ended Gujarat’s unbeaten streak this season. SRH overpowered GT by 8 wickets at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Kane Williamson leads from the front as SRH beat the unbeaten GT
Both teams came fresh from a victory in their previous game. Williamson won the toss and elected to field first. Both teams went unchanged as they showed confidence in their winning combination.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar started off in an unlike Bhuvi manner as he game away two 10 runs to wide in the very first over. However, SRH pulled back things as they picked two wickets in the powerplay. Hardik Pandya steadied the innings with his 50 off 42 balls but failed to accelerate towards the back end of the innings.
Youngster Abhinav Manohar played a quickfire inning of 35 which took the score to 162. Sunrisers’ bowlers displayed excellent death bowling skills as Kumar and Natarajan nailed their yorkers.
Hyderabad’s openers Abhishek Sharma and skipper Williamson continued where they left off against CSK as the duo stitched another fifty-run stand. GT bowlers failed to pick up a wicket in the powerplay for the first time this season.
Skipper Kane Williamson played a captain’s knock as the permanent member of Fab-4 scored 57 off 46 balls. Abhishek also contributed with his valuable 42 runs at the top. Gujarat’s pacers could not nail their line and lengths, due to which Sunrisers batters were never under pressure.
Sunrisers faced an injury scare as Rahul Tripathi had to walk off the field. In the end, Nicholas Pooran’s quickfire 34 off 18 balls finished the game for SRH.
