Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the ODI series against West Indies which is supposed to start from 6 February. The left-hander tested positive alongside middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and 2021 IPL orange cap winner Rituraj Gaikwad.

After the news broke, cricket fans and experts of the cricketing fraternity wished Shikhar Dhawan a speedy recovery. The star Indian opener, who only plays the ODI format now, sent out a tweet thanking all the fans for their wishes.
“Thank you everyone for your wishes I’m doing fine and humbled by all the love that’s come my way,” tweeted Dhawan revealing that he is healthy.

All three Indian players have gone into isolation. According to Sportstar, the BCCI medical team is currently monitoring the situation.
BCCI called up Mayank Agarwal as a replacement for the ODIs who last played an ODI in Australia in 2020. Earlier, BCCI had called up Shahrukh Khan and R Sai Kishore from Tamil Nadu as backup players.
India is scheduled to play all three ODIs at the Narendra Modi Stadium from February 6. The three T20Is are scheduled to be held in Kolkata between February 16-20.
