Ravichandran Ashwin is an Indian all-rounder bowler who plays at both the domestic and international levels. His bowling style is right arm off-break and his batting style is right hand lower down the order. Ashwin player for Tamil Nadu when he made his first-class debut in 2006. Ashwin has also shown that he can lead a team, as he had captained the Tamil Nadu team. He made his foray into the international cricketing circuit after he made heads turn in the shortest form of cricket – the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Ravichandran Ashwin career
Ravichandran Ashwin made his debut in the One Day International format in 2010. He was up against Sri Lanka, at the Harare Sports Club. The match was one to write home about as the Indian team made a 5-0 whitewash. Ashwin was the star bowler and wicket-taker of the match. The 35-year-old had claimed 11 wickets. His average was 21.90. Ashwin remained a part of the ODI squad until 2017 at the ICC Champions Trophy when team India was up against long rivals, Pakistan.
He Kickstarted his IPL career in the year 2009. He was picked by the Chennai Super Kings and in his first match he played against the mighty Mumbai Indians. The match took place in Newlands, Cape Town. 2010 and 2011 was probably CSK’s year as well as Ashwin’s year as he propelled the team to win the IPL trophy after taking 13 wickets in the 2010 edition and 20 wickets in the next edition of IPL.
His team, CSK was banned from IPL for two seasons, 2016 and 2017. During those two years he played for the Rising Pune Supergiants. 2017 was a bad year for Ashwin, as he suffered sports hernia which kept him off the field for the entire season. In the following year, he was bought by Kings XI Punjab for 7.5 crore. Pretty soon, he became the captain of the squad.
His T20I career was against Zimbabwe in 2010. In 2016, he set a record for becoming the first Indian cricketer for claiming 50 wickets in the T20I format. He made his test debut in 2011 and in 2016-2017 he broke Kapil Dev’s record of 63 wickets in 10 tests. He had 64 wickets under his belt in 13 tests.

Ravichandran Ashwin was born in 1986 in a Tamil Hindu family. In 2011, he got hitched to his children friend, Prithi Narayanan. The couple has two beautiful kids.
