Rahul Chahar, the young leg spinner from Rajasthan, is not enjoying a rich run of form off-late. India A is currently up against South Africa A competing in an unofficial test match where the Protean side is dominating the proceedings. So far, Rahul Chahar has been the most expensive bowler for India A so far.
Chahar didn’t have great figures to support his wickets column either. His bowling performance must have triggered his emotions as he showed his frustration on the field after being denied a wicket by the umpire.
The incident happened during the second session when Chahar was putting up his 25th over and he bowled to Sinethemba Qeshile. The ball hit the pads of batters and the bowler appealed to the umpire with all his enthusiasm but the umpire didn’t go with his appeal. The decision prompted the spinner to throw his sunglasses and was seen having some heated discussion with the umpire. However, he picked up his glasses and completed his over.
Rahul Chahar might get pulled up here, showing absolute dissent to the umpires call.

As the Indian bowlers struggled in the first innings of the game, South Africa A went up to post a humongous total of 509 runs on the board.
The ongoing series is very important for the players who want to make it to the South Africa tour that will commence on 17 December. Players such as Hanuma Vihari and Prithvi Shaw would like to grab the opportunity of the three-match unofficial test series to seal their spot for the upcoming tour.
The move to select Rahul Chahar over Chahal turned out to be a blunder
Young Rahul Chahar had a terrific first leg of the IPL which was played in India. He was among the top wicket-takers in the first phase. His performances in Sri Lanka were also noteworthy. As a result, the selection panel took a brave call and selected him ahead of veteran Yuzvendra Chahal who is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is.
However, Rahul had a terrible second leg of IPL where he was dropped from the team midway. But selectors persisted with him and did not remove him from the squad despite the bad form. He could play only one game in the tournament which was against Namibia and went wicketless there as well. Hence, it is fair to say that selection of Chahar didn’t pan out to be as effective as the selectors thought it would.
