Mumbai, the most successful team in the history of the Ranji Trophy, added another feather to their cap by clinching the prestigious title for the 42nd time in the 2023-24 season. The team, led by Ajinkya Rahane, showcased a dominant performance throughout the tournament, culminating in a resounding victory in the final against Vidarbha.

The final match, held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, saw the home team outclass Vidarbha by 169 runs. Mumbai had set a target of 642 runs for Vidarbha, who were bundled out for 368 in their second innings. The Player of the Match award was bestowed upon Musheer Khan of Mumbai, who scored a century in the second innings and also took two crucial wickets.

Mumbai’s journey to the final was marked by consistent performances and strategic gameplay. In the semi-final against Tamil Nadu, Mumbai won by an inning and 70 runs. The quarter-final against Baroda ended in a draw, but Mumbai advanced based on a first-innings lead.
