The situation was challenging; CSK was floundering at 120 for six at the start of the 17th over, chasing a target of 192. The last realistic hope, Shivam Dube, was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar, and it was up to Dhoni to steer the ship.

Dhoni, in his characteristic style, dispatched his first delivery in more than ten months to the square-leg fence. The power, timing, and placement of the shot were a reminder of Dhoni’s prowess and left everyone in awe. It was a clear message that Dhoni ‘still got it’.

The next 25 minutes were a spectacle as Dhoni showcased his brute power and exceptional awareness of the field. He played a breathtaking knock, combining the power coiled in his muscular frame with an instinctive understanding of the field. It was a performance that left everyone, including former India cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth, in disbelief.

Though it was meant to be a home game for the Capitals, the stadium turned into a mustard field with CSK supporters thoroughly enjoying the batting masterclass from the former Indian Captain at the backend.

Despite a loss for the Chennai Super Kings, the fans who turned up cherished MS Dhoni’s batting for one last time in what seems to be a farewell season for the veteran.
