Delhi Capitals 2022 IPL season has begun on a controversial note as some miscreants attacked their team bus. The Delhi team has arrived in Mumbai to start their preparations for IPL 2022, with their opening match on March 27 against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium.
As per the latest reports, it was learned that some miscreants attacked DC’s team bus in Mumbai. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered by the Mumbai Police under four different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The FIR has been registered against five to six unknown miscreants.
“An FIR has been registered against 5-6 unknown persons under sections 143,147,149,427 of IPC for allegedly attacking the Delhi Capital IPL team parked bus,” the local police was quoted as saying by India Today.
Delhi Capitals appoint Shane Watson as their assistant coach
The Delhi franchise’s coaching staff will have new faces joining this season as the finalists of the 2020 season roped in former Australian cricketer Shane Watson as their assistant coach. He’ll join forces with former Australian teammates Ricky Ponting and James Hopes in the coaching staff. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant will lead the team once again and many eyes will be on him. After all, the wicketkeeper-batter has been on a roll lately.
Besides the southpaw, the Delhi-based franchise retained the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, and Anrich Nortje. Owing to the mega auction, the side had to let go of some prominent names in Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Marcus Stoinus, and Kagiso Rabada. However, they have bagged the services of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Delhi Capitals will start the tournament with fewer resources as Warner and Mitchell Marsh will reportedly miss the beginning of the tournament. Also, participation of their premier quick Anrich Nortje is under serious doubt.
