KL Rahul is ruled out of the 5th Test at Manchester

Later, the medical team of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru assessed the injury and ruled Rahul out of the upcoming rescheduled fifth Test at Manchester against England. This is a big blow for India as KL Rahul was critical in India’s success in England last year. He along with now Indian test skipper Rohit Sharma formed a formidable opening unit and provided India with an excellent opening start on multiple occasions in tough English conditions.

Team India arrived in England on June 16 to kick off the England tour. India will lock horns with England for the rescheduled fifth Test at Old Trafford starting on July 1. The rescheduled fifth Test is counted as the fifth match of India’s 2027 series in England, which the visitors lead by 2-1. The fifth Test was postponed at the last minute following a COVID-19 outbreak in 2021. Team India will also play a four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire from June 24 to June 27 to be in the groove for the fifth Test.

Meanwhile, LSG skipper KL Rahul shared a post on the Koo app and captioned it as “Count your blessings” to give an insight into his routine as he continues to recover from a groin injury.

It is not clear if Rahul will be available for the white ball series against England which will begin after the rescheduled test. India has a busy cricketing calendar ahead and KL Rahul is expected to be an integral part of India’s plans, especially when there is a World Cup just around the corner.

KL Rahul has played 43 Test matches for India scoring 2547 runs with seven centuries to his name at an average of 35.37.
