DC demolishes PBKS with the low run chase
The Delhi Capitals camp was hit by Covid as Tim Seifert and Marsh are infected along with four members of the support staff. The side had elected to bowl first after winning the toss. Punjab Kings suffered a top-order collapse and managed to tally a low total of 115 runs as they were bundled out.
Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal, and the in-form batter Liam Livingstone failed to provide Punjab with a good start and were dismissed inside the powerplay overs. Jonny Bairstow also failed to do much. Jitesh Sharma along with Shahrukh stitched a small partnership before the former was trapped LBW by Axar Patel. Jitesh Sharma top-scored with a knock of 32. Among the DC bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, and Lalit Yadav scalped two wickets each.
Delhi Capitals reached the target score with ease. David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan guided the side home with 57 balls to spare. The opening pair of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw got Delhi to a flying start. Warner completed his half-century in just 26 balls. This marked his 53rd half-century in IPL. The pair added 81/0 in the first six overs, which is also the highest by the franchise in the powerplays. Shaw was dismissed by Rahul Chahar on 41 off 20 balls.
