Sunil Narine, the dynamic all-rounder from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has etched his name in the annals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by achieving a unique double feat. He joined the elite list of cricketers who have scored a century and picked up a hat-trick in the IPL, a list that includes the likes of Rohit Sharma and Shane Watson.

Sunil Narine joins the unique list

On April 16 against Rajasthan, Narine racked up his maiden T20 hundred at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He got to the landmark of 49 balls and helped the Knights post a huge score of 223 for 6 in 20 overs. Narine smashed 13 fours and 6 sixes in his knock. However, his innings went in vain as RR won by 2 wickets on the back of Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 109-run knock.

Narine also finished with figures of 4-0-30-2, picking up the wickets of Dhruv Jurel and Rovman Powell, but it was not enough for KKR to avoid defeat in the City of Joy.

This unique double feat puts Sunil  Narine in the company of IPL legends. Rohit Sharma, the iconic batter of Mumbai Indians, has two centuries and one hat-trick to his name in the IPL. His hat-trick came in 2009 while playing for the Deccan Chargers. Shane Watson, the former all-rounder for Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, is the other player on this elite list.

Sunil Narine picked up a hat-trick back in 2013 against Punjab at the PCA Stadium in Mohali when he dismissed David Hussey, Gurkeerat Singh and Azhar Mahmood.
