The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has been a platform for many young talents to showcase their skills and make a mark in the cricketing world. One such rising star is Mayank Yadav, a pace sensation from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who has taken the IPL 2024 by storm.

Mayank’s journey in IPL 2024 began with a bang as he unleashed a thunderbolt delivery clocking at 155.8 kmph against Punjab Kings. This was just a glimpse of what was to come. In his very next game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mayank shattered his record, propelling a delivery at an astonishing speed of 156.7 kmph. This feat not only marked him as the fastest bowler of the season but also made him the first Indian to ever cross the 155 kmph mark twice in cricket history.

However, Mayank’s prowess was not limited to his speed alone. Against RCB, he delivered a magical spell of 3 for 14, including the wickets of key players like Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, and Rajat Patidar. His exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Match award, further solidifying his status as a game-changer.

Despite facing a setback with a side strain that saw him walking off the field after bowling just one over against Gujarat Titans, Mayank’s impact was already indelible. His performances have left fans and experts alike in awe, earning him the nickname “Child of the Wind”.

Brian Lara’s advice for Mayank Yadav to learn from Jasprit Bumrah

West Indies great Brian Lara has lauded Mayank Yadav while adding that the 21-year-old pacer needs to continuously improve and evolve as a bowler. Recognising the challenges he’ll face as batsmen analyse and strategise against him, Lara pointed out that Mayank should learn from experienced bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah. This highlights the value of seeking guidance and insight from those who have excelled in the craft.

“First of all I think Umran Malik still has a very bright future. So it’s not about turning out like an Umran Malik. I think Mayank Yadav is someone who has hit the scene. He’s new, last year he was around, but I think he was injured. When you’re new and you’re coming with a lot of pace and a lot of bounce,” Brian Lara said.

Lara’s advice is indeed valuable. Bumrah, with his unique action and ability to bowl yorkers at will, has been a nightmare for batsmen around the world. His experience and insights could be invaluable for a young pacer like Mayank Yadav, helping him to hone his skills and develop new strategies.
