Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rajasthan Royals piled a gigantic 217/5 after the end of stipulated 20 overs. Jason Buttler along with Devdutt Padikkal gave an incredible start to the Royals. They managed to stitch an impressive 97 runs for the opening wicket before Padikkal was cleaned up by Sunil Narine on 24(18). Buttler had brought up his second century of this year’s IPL in the 17th over of the innings and was dismissed in the same over. Coming on to chase the mammoth target, KKR got off to the worst start possible as the side lost Sunil Narine via a run-out on the first ball of the innings. But Shreyas Iyer and Aaron Finch have revived the innings by striking boundaries at regular intervals. Finch brought up his fifty in the 9th over of the innings but he was sent back to the pavilion by Prasidh Krishna in the very same over. Yuzevendra Chahal returned with a Five wicket haul and also registered a hat-trick. He had bagged the big wicket of Shreyas Iyer as well.

Though, Umesh Yadav showed some hopes for KKR, it was the debutant Obed McCoy who struck in the final over to bag a couple of wickets and wiped out KKR on 210 to clinch the victory in a thrilling contest.
