IPL 2022 – Match 40: Rashid Khan steals a thrilling win for GT; Umran Malik’s fifer goes in vain

Gujarat Titans'(GT) Rashid Khan displayed late heroics to seal the 5-wicket win against SunRisers Hyderabad(SRH) despite Umran Malik’s incredible bowling figures in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League(IPL) on Wednesday, April 27 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Gujarat Titans had won the toss and decided to field first. It was Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram’s 96-run stand, and a fiery finish from Shashank Singh that helped SRH put up 195 for six in 20 overs.

The half-century by Abhishek Sharma helped SRH to reach the score. Rashid Khan had a bad outing with the bowl as he gave away 45 runs and went wicketless as SunRisers Hyderabad left-hander Abhishek Sharma hit the much-feared leg-spinner to all parts of the iconic venue. It was Mohammed Shami who returned with three wickets for Gujarat Titans.

Meanwhile, chasing the target GT manage to race to 199 runs for five in 20 overs, crossing the 196-run target. Rashid Khan had pulled the last ball over fine leg for a six and GT won it off the last ball.

Wriddhiman Saha also displayed a great performance scoring a stupendous 68 runs off 38 balls, while Rahul Tewatia worked well with Rashid Khan. Tewatia weighed in a blistering 21 ball 40* runs.

While, For SunRisers Hyderabad Umran Malik was in excellent form as he showcased some exemplary performance. He claimed his maiden IPL five-wicket haul as he finished with brilliant bowling figures of 5/25.
