Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant had won the toss and invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first. CSK were off to a flying start after a 110-run partnership in just 11 overs was stitched by Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad (41). Devon Conway scored a magnificent 87 off just 49 balls, while Shivam Dube (32), then, took care of the run-scoring as Capitals made inroads with quick wickets.

Then the skipper MS Dhoni played a bright cameo (21* off 8 balls) as Chennai Super Kings posted a strong score of 208/6 in 20 overs. Dhoni managed to blast a four and two sixes in the final three overs to power CSK to a mammoth total for DC to chase.

Chasing a target of 209 runs, DC were bowled out for 117 in 17.4 overs with Moeen Ali taking three wickets in four overs. Meanwhile, Mukesh Choudhary and Dwayne Bravo returned with a couple of wickets each.

CSK have put a major blow to DC’s hopes of playoff qualification. The Yellow Outfit have climbed to 8th spot. However, they will have to rely on plenty of results to go their way, while ensuring victories in all remaining games to ensure a chance of playoff qualification.
