Punjab Kings had won the toss and elected to bat first. Punjab Kings smashed 67 runs in the last five overs, largely contributed by Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone to post a total of 189/5. The partnership between Livingstone and Jitesh was worth 50 runs and it came in just 26 balls. It helped PBKS build on the base that was built for them by Jonny Bairstow, who scored his first half-century of the season.

Rajasthan Royals came out in full force with young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the way. Jos Buttler smashed 20 runs in the fourth over alone before getting dismissed in the last ball of that same over.

RR skipper Sanju Samson came in and continued the same momentum with Jaiswal, who also ensuried that the team goes about the chase while maintaining a run rate of close to 10. While Samson fell on 23 off 12 balls, Jaiswal went on to score a half century. He eventually fell to Arshdeep Singh but Shimron Hetmyer then used the platform built by the previous batters to help RR to a six-wicket win.
