Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) skipper KL Rahul once again delivered a stellar ton to hand Mumbai Indians(MI) their eighth consecutive loss in the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2022 edition on Sunday, April 24 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This marks MI’s second defeat against LSG this season.
KL Rahul registers his second century in IPL 2022
After being put onto bat first, Rahul slammed an unbeaten 103 off just 62 balls despite LSG continuing to lose wickets at regular intervals. KL Rahul scored his second century of the season against Mumbai Indians but he hardly got any support at the other end as LSG managed a score of 168/6 in 20 overs. For MI, Kieron Pollard and Riley Meredith returned with took two wickets each.
MI got off to a good start but kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, and were restricted to 132 for 8 as LSG picked up a 36-run win. Rohit Sharma top-scored for MI with a 39-run knock at the top of the order.
It was good for them till the Powerplay. In the next 6 overs, they lost four wickets which took the momentum away from them completely. Tilak Varma once again played a crucial knock and gave them a slight ray of hope but he too perished.For LSG, Krunal Pandya took three wickets. Out of the seven bowlers that LSG deployed, six took wickets while the only one who didn’t, Dushmantha Chameera.
Lucknow Super Giants is set to face Punjab Kings(PBKS) on Friday, April 29, while Mumbai Indians will face Rajasthan Royals(RR) on Saturday, April 30.
