CSK register their first win after defeating RCB
Faf du Plessis had won the toss and invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first. He confirmed that pacer Josh Hazlewood would make his debut, replacing David Willey. Meanwhile, Suyash Prabhudesai replaced Harshal Patel in the playing XI. On the other hand CSK fielded an unchanged side on their quest to register their first win in the 2022 campaign.
CSK put up a great total of 216/4 after the stupendous batting partnership from Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa, who played knocks of 94 and 88 respectively. RCB had made an early breakthrough as Josh Hazlewood dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad in the fourth over of the innings. He departed after scoring 17.
Soon after, Moeen Ali was dismissed via a run-out. The yellow outfit had managed to tally less than 40 runs in the powerplay. But after that Uthappa and Dube did the rebuilding works and unleashed an onslaught on the RCB bowlers. The duo managed to put up a whopping 165 runs off 74 balls after they turned up at the crease when the score was 36/2.
Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a forgettable start in their chase of 217 against Chennai Super Kings as Maheesh Theekshana removed Faf du Plessis in the third over and then Virat Kohli departed after scoring just 1 run. Anuj Rawat also could not fight back as RCB were three down inside the powerplay.
Tio made the matters worse as Glenn Maxwell also departed and RCB suffered a heavy defeat. RCB lost eight wickets inside 16 overs to relinquish the game. Though the star batter Dinesh Karthik revived the hopes for RCB in the end it was CSK who came out on top in the match.
