Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) recently emerged victorious against SunRisers Hyderabad(SRH) in the Indian Premier League(IPL) at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Monday, April 4. The newly joined franchise picked up a 12-run win against SRH.
LSG enjoy their second win in the IPL
The LSG skipper KL Rahul (68 off 50) and all-rounder Deepak Hooda (51 off 33 balls) hit half-centuries to help his side score a defendable total of 169 runs at the expense of 7 wickets. Holder and Krunal also added two wickets under his belt.
Coming on to chase, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost openers Williamson and Abhishek Sharma, and Aiden Markram was dismissed on 12 as the side slumped to 83 for three after 11 overs. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram steadied the ship for SunRisers Hyderabad with their 44-run partnership for the third wicket.
Avesh Khan had removed both the openers while Krunal Pandya picked the wicket of Aiden Markram. Krunal then removed Rahul Tripathi (44) as well. Avesh picked up four and Jason Holder plucked three wickets in the final over. He returned with impressive figures of 3/34. Thus, SunRisers Hyderabad managed to post just 157/9 in the stipulated 20 overs as they fell short of 12 runs. They relinquished the win to LSG.
This marked LSG’s second consecutive win in their IPL maiden season. They are set to square off against Delhi Capitals(DC) on Thursday, April 7, while SRH are set to face Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, April 9.
