IND vs SA 3rd Test Day 2 Review: Bumrah claims a fifer as India hold a 70 run lead

South Africa started Day 2 with the overnight score of 17/1 in the exciting third and final test match between India and South Africa which is underway at Newlands in Cape Town. Jasprit Bumrah came up with brilliant performance as the Indian pacers dominated the game as they bundled out The Proteas at 210 runs. India are currently leading by 70 runs as they concluded the day’s play at 57/2.

India fought back well in the second session of the day after a solid stand between Keegan Petersen and Temba Bavuma was taking the game away from the visitors. Keegan Petersen was the top-scorer for the hosts, making 72 off 166. Speedster Jasprit Bumrah was the stand out bowler as he took a fifer.

This feat which he achieved marked his seventh five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav took a couple of wickets each as India reduced SA to 176/7 which meant India still lead the game.

Petersen and Rassie van der Dussen built an unbroken half-century stand for the fourth wicket to lead South Africa’s recovery on Day 2. The pair added 55 runs after India dismissed the overnight pair of Aiden Markram and nightwatchman Keshav Maharaj early. At lunch, the hosts were trailing by 123 runs with seven wickets remaining.

India were eyeing for a solid start to the second innings with the mere lead. But they went two wickets down after openers Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul were dismissed by Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen, respectively. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli are at the crease and they would eyeing to stitch a strong partnership on third day. Pujara is yet to make an impact in the series while the returning skipper Virat Kohli was the lone fighter on the previous day which helped India get to a decent score. He scored a brilliant 79 runs and missed out on the ton.
