If MS Dhoni retires from the IPL today, he will easily go down as the cricketer with a golden legacy. But the World Cup winning captain has assured his millions of fans with a wide grin, “I still haven’t left behind.”Â
MS Dhoni and CSK’s fate depends on BCCIÂ
Dhoni claimed his fourth title of the IPL as CSK defeated KKR in what became a one sided affair towards the end. Now, Dhoni has six titles with CSK if we add two Champion Leagues trophies. But now the big question in everyone’s minds is will we see MS again in CSK colours? Dhoni answered this question at the post match conference with Harsha Bhogle.
“Again I’ve said it before, it depends on the BCCI. With two new teams coming in……we have to decide what is good for CSK,” the skipper said after his team won the fourth IPL title by beating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
“It’s not about me being in the top-three or four. It’s about making a strong core to ensure the franchise doesn’t suffer. The core group, we have to have a hard look to see who can contribute for the next 10 years,” he added.
BCCI are yet to release the retention policy for the next IPL. It was reported that teams will be allowed a maximum of four retentions and if a team retains four players, they will not be able to use the Right To Match (RTM) card.
If any team deserved to win the IPL this year, I feel it was KKR: MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is the perfect ambassador for the gentlemen’s game. In the post match conference he displayed why he is one of the most loved cricketers in the world. Before speaking of CSK, he congratulated his opponent KKR for displaying an epic comeback. KKR had only two wins in the first seven games during the India-leg. But they came back strongly in the UAE and qualified for the finals.
“Before I start talking about CSK, it’s important I talk about KKR. For the position they were in after the first phase, it is very difficult to come back and do what they have done. If any team deserved to win the IPL this year, I feel it was KKR. I think the break helped them.”
Before finishing off, Dhoni also thanked the fans for showing their constant support. He hopes to see them next year in attendance.
“I would love to thank the fans. We are in Dubai now. Even when we played in South Africa, we always got a good amount of support. Thanks to all of them. It feels like Chepauk, Chennai. Hopefully we will come back to play for the Chennai fans next year,” he concluded.
