England captain Jos Buttler had opted to bowl first. Dinesh Karthik lost his wicket to a run-out to put the visitors on the back foot. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant had provided India a flying start but Gleeson helped England gain control later. Richard Gleeson and Chris Jordan had kept England strong.
Richard Gleeson claimed the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli while Jordan dismissed Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. It was Ravindra Jadeja’s stupendous 46 not out off 29 balls that steered India to a defendable total of 170/8 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Chasing a decent target of 171, England crippled in a big manner. They were bundled out for 121 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking three wickets. The Indian bowlers were impeccable in the match. Moeen Ali and David Willey put in a fight but theThree Lions kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal bagged a couple of wickets each while Hardik Pandya and Harshal Patel also picked a wicket each.
India and England will square off against each other in the third T20I on Sunday, July 10 at Trent Bridge Stadium. The Men in Blue are in dominant form having consecutive wins on English soil. They will be eyeing to end the series flawless, while England will attempt to keep the honor.
