After a terrific performance by Jasprit Bumrah, in the previous match of the series, it is the performance of the English bowler, Reece Topley that stunned the fans.  England were put into bat and they were off to a fine start. The openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow looked strong at the onset until Hardik Pandya gave India the first breakthrough as he dismissed Roy. Bairstow was then dismissed by Chahal, who also got the better of Joe Root and Ben Stokes. Yuzvendra Chahal came up with the heroics in the clash with the ball as India bundled out England for 246.

Mohammed Shami castled Jos Buttler to keep under the pump, but Moeen Ali and David Willey’s knock of 47 and 41 helped England to set a challenging total on the board. Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah also ended their spells with two wickets each while Prasidh Krishna also managed to take a wicket.

Chasing a total of 247, India struggled earlier in the innings and they made a sluggish start. They were eventually bowled out for a paltry of 146 in 38.5 overs. Reece Topley returned with figures of six for 24, the best by an England bowler at Lord’s.

India are set to face England in the 3rd and decider ODI on Thursday, July 14 at the same venue.
