India are set to square off against England in the first T20I in the three-match T20I series at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Thursday, July 7.

England

After an intense Test series that ended in a 2-2, England will be eyeing to dominate India in the shortest format of the game. Jos Buttler will be making his debut as the full-time captain of the English limited-overs team. He has taken the reign from the World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan, who announced his retirement from international cricket after witnessing a dip in his form for a long time. Buttler has captained the English team in 9 ODIs and has managed to take the team over the line in 6 matches.

India:

On the other hand, skipper Rohit Sharma is available for the T20I series and is likely to open the innings for the Men in Blue. He was picked as the captain of the Indian team last year after Virat Kohli stepped down from the position. It will be Sharma’s first stint as the full-time captain on overseas soil. India have won the last 12 T20Is under Rohit Sharma and he would be eager to continue this dominance. Virat Kohli’s future in T20I is up in the air and he will have to prove in this series.

WAGING ODDS: England (1.61) Vs India (2.10)

England are the favorites and are priced at 1.61, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹161.

India are the underdogs and priced at 2.10 meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹210.

Our Prediction:

The pitch is expected to provide equal support to both the batters and the bowlers. The wicket at the Rose Bowl offers true pace and bounce which can help the batters to hit through the line. Skipper winning the toss might be tempted to bowl first. The Three Lions will certainly have the home turf advantage but that will not rule out the Men in Blue.
