Four-time IPL champs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a huge blow as their quickest bowler in the squad Adam Milne has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 owing to an injury. The Kiwi speedster played the first match of the IPL for Chennai Super Kings after which the pacer sustained a hamstring injury.
Sri Lankan Matheesha Pathirana replaces Milne in the CSK squad
Milne added a unique dimension to the Chennai bowling lineup as none of the other Chennai pacers can clock speed in excess of 140+ consistently. Now, the IPL advisory issued a statement informing that Chennai has signed young Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana as a replacement for Milne.
Pathirana is a young 19-year-old medium-pacer from Sri Lanka who was part of Sri Lanka’s U19 World Cup squads in 2020 and 2022. He will join CSK at the price of INR 20 Lakh.
Meanwhile, CSK will face off against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on Thursday in a marquee battle. Both teams are having a tough time this season as Chennai has registered only one win and Mumbai is yet to win a game this season. The encounter will take at DY Patil stadium.
