The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a noble initiative as they decided to facilitate the heroes of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 which took place last year. The medal winners from the Tokyo Olympics were present at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for the ceremony.
Last Year, BCCI had announced that it will facilitate and honor the winners from the Tokyo Olympics with moments and cash prizes but never got a chance to hold any ceremony for this occasion. Now, Ahead of the 1st game of this year’s IPL, BCCI honored the Olympians Neeraj Chopra, Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya, Lovkina Borgohain, and PV Sindhu. The Indian hockey team, who won an Olympic medal after 41 years was also facilitated in this event.
Neeraj Chopra, who won India’s maiden athletic Gold on his Olympic debut, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 Crore by the BCCI. Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who won the Bronze in the Women’s Welterweight event, was given a prize of Rs 25 lakh.
The Indian Men’s hockey team received Rs 1 crore, which was awarded to team captain Manpreet Singh by president Sourav Ganguly.
