Saha-Majumdar controversy: BCCI Apex Council to review probe committee’s report on the matter

The BCCI provided the latest update on the Saha-Majumdar controversy row as The BCCI Apex Council will be looking at the probe committee’s report that states wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha’s accusations against journalist Boria Majumdar.

The meeting will be held on April 23, where the complaint will be reviewed. Hosting fees and participation fees for multi-day tournaments and resolutions for updating bank signatories are among other topics on the list that will be discussed during the meeting.

The venues for the knock-out stages of the Ranji Trophy are also expected to be finalized, which is scheduled after the completion of the Indian Premier League 2022, starting May 30th.

Wriddhiman Saha accused Majumdar of threatening him for an interview

BCCI had formed a three-member panel to probe after Saha accused journalist Boria Majumdar of intimidating him after the keeper refused an interview.

The panel comprises vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and Apex council member Prabhtej Bhatia. “Review of the Committee report on the issue concerning Mr. Wriddhiman Saha,” read item no.4 on the meeting agenda according to News18.

The two of them presented their particular forms of the story before the committee last month. After more than a month, the BCCI Apex Council is expected to close the matter in their upcoming meeting.

Majumdar had alleged that the Bengal wicketkeeper had tampered with the WhatsApp messages before sharing the screenshot on social media for the world to know. This statement had created a spark and added to the controversy.

Saha put forward a series of tweets on February 23 after he was dropped from the Test squad. Saha was told that he would no longer be considered for selection as the Indian team wants to groom a youngster as a backup for Rishabh Pant.
