In a shocking development, Tim Paine, Australian wicket-keeper batsman, has resigned from Australia’s test captaincy after an old scandal was brought to light. Apparently, Tim Paine sent a series of sexually charged text messages to a female “colleague”, which forced Tim Paine to quit as captain.

The controversy dates back to 2017/18 on the eve of the Ashes series. Paine revealed his decision through a statement and added that the decision has been an incredibly tough one for him to take, but said that it is the right one for him and his family. Paine also revealed that he deeply regrets this incident and is grateful to his family for their support.

“Today, I’m announcing my decision to stand down as the captain of the Australian men’s Test team,” he said.

“It’s an incredibly difficult decision, but the right one for me, my family, and cricket.

“Nearly four years ago, I was involved in a text exchange with a then-colleague. At the time, the exchange was the subject of a thorough CA Integrity Unit investigation, throughout which I fully participated in and openly participated in. That investigation and a Cricket Tasmania HR investigation at the same time found that there had been no breach of the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct.”
